4G LTE is finally heading to the UK thanks to Ofcom approving an application by the mobile phone operator Everything Everywhere (T-Mobile and Orange) to use the existing 1800 MHz spectrum.

Ofcom concluded that varying Everything Everywhere's 1800 MHz licenses now will "deliver significant benefits to consumers, and that there is no material risk that those benefits will be outweighed by a distortion of competition. Delaying doing so would therefore be to the detriment of consumers."

This is great news for UK smartphone users who have yet to be able to take advantage of 4G devices.
