Argo is the new film from GK Films and directed by Ben Affleck, who also stars in the movie along with Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston. The film is loosely based on the historical account of former Central Intelligence Agency operative, Tony Mendez, of the rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran during the hostage crisis in 1979. What really stands out however is that the CIA faked a Sci-Fi movie to rescue the diplomats, providing them with fake identities related to the fake film. Argo is well-paced, intriguing and while a serious film, has well-placed humorous moments, most great ones provided by Alan Arkin who plays Lester Siegal, he really adds a whole new dimension to the movie. As any Walter White fan would expect Bryan Cranston is excellent, especially with his emotional outbursts, but honestly the whole cast pulls off great performances. The 70's setting and style of the actors is very well done and not for a moment do you forget the period that this movie is set.
The trailer for the movie didn't grab me at all, but I must say I'm really glad I went to see it. Argo is simply fantastic, it does a superb job of telling the story and entertains all the way to the end, and up to that point you'll be on the edge on your seat.
