Microsoft is killing of its Microsoft Points in favour of real currency and gift cards according to sources familiar with Microsoft's plans talking to The Verge. Users will be able to use normal cash transactions using credit and debit cards and also be able to purchase new gift cards to make purchases on Xbox, Windows Store, and Windows Phone Store. Microsoft is apparently going to unveil the system as soon as E3, with a launch planned for later this year, likely to go along with the next generation Xbox console.
This is something that I know a lot of people will happy about, the whole points system has clearly been a way to make users spend more money than they needed, so I'm looking forward to the change.
