At it's Xbox event Microsoft has revealed it's next generation console, the Xbox One. Microsoft is describing it as an all-in-one console. On the hardware side the Xbox One features 8GB of RAM, an 8-core CPU, a Blu-ray drive, 500GB HDD, USB 3.0, and built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi. The Xbox One runs on the same kernel of Windows and won't require an always on internet connection. However game developers can choose to require online connectivity.
The console can be turned on jus by saying "Xbox on", which then reveals a brand new Home dashboard that looks a lot like Windows 8. Microsoft has built in many new gestures with a brand new 1080p Kinect that ships with the console that allow users to close, open and even have two apps/games open together on the screen with Snap Mode. New voice demands have also been implemented that allow quickly switching off apps, pretty much like switching TV channels. The brand new controller has impulse triggers that let you feel the feedback directly in the triggers themselves if game developers decide to built it in.
Microsoft has also announced that the Xbox One will get 15 exclusive games in its first year, with 8 being brand new franchises.
The console will launch later this year according to Microsoft, however we noticed that in the announcement video at the end in small text it says "holiday 2013".
