Samsung has been working diligently towards been coined as a market leader in mobile phones. The Korean company has a strong hold on the high end smart phone market. The latest offering by Samsung was the Galaxy S 4 which met a roaring success. Samsung wanted to ensure that the high price of the phone does not become a limiting factor for those who want to own a good smart phone, so within a few months of the S 4 release, Samsung announced a Galaxy S 4 mini. This was also received well in the mid-level smart phone market. Now it is eyeing the entry level market. To prove their metal in the budget market as well, Samsung recently announced an entry level Android smartphone called Samsung Galaxy Ace 3. This will be the third in the Samsung budget phone series called Ace. The smart phone maker is trying to lock the customers from every end. This announcement not only adds another member in the ever growing Samsung Galaxy family but also ensures that Samsung does not get type casted as a high end mobile phone maker.
It is very interesting to know that the Ace 3 will be released in two versions; one will be a 3 G version and second will be a 4 G version. The 3 G version will have 4 inch display with a dual core processor running on a 1 GHz and 1500 mAh of battery. The 4 G or LTE version will have a slight improvement in the features like it will have 1800 mAh battery and will have 1.5GHz of RAM. Rest assured both the versions are great but if the price does not differ too much, going with a 4 G would be natural. The phone has been officially launched.
Supports 4 G and dual SIM:
The Ace 3 is rumored to be released in the month of July. The phone is expected to beat its predecessors in the fields of speed, endurance and camera. Keeping the Asian world preference in mind, the phone will be available in dual SIM. Dual SIM phones have gained huge popularity in the Indian, Chinese and Philippines markets. Galaxy Ace 3 is also expected to be 4 G enabled. This makes it the only smart phone in this series of the galaxy Ace to have the capability of a 4 G and LTE. The data speed will be of 42.2 Mbps and it will also be equipped with NFC.
Dimensions and Display:
The Ace 3 is 121.2 x 62.7 x 10 mm in dimensions and will weigh around 119.5 grams. The phone seems to be a bit on the bulkier side and some of the pictures that were leaked earlier did not show a very sleek smart phone. But for a budget phone no one is complaining. The upcoming Galaxy Ace 3 has a generous 4 inch display with a TFT capacitive touchscreen. A resolution of 480 x 800 pixels makes the 16 M colors come live. The pixel density of 233 ppi for a 4 inch screen is pretty decent. The display is good and images and text are visible even in sunlight. For a budget phone a TFT multi touch screen makes sense though it would have been thrilling to get an AMOLED screen.
Camera and Videos:
The primary camera is 5 MP. There were rumors of the main camera being 8 MP which would have been absolutely fantastic but 5 MP is not bad especially with features like Samsung’s Sound & Shot, Shutter box and Best Photo features. The camera has the autofocus feature and a resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. The rear camera comes with a LED flash which lets you click pictures in dim light. The camera may not get great snaps of moving objects but stationary objects and portraits clicked are good and can be uploaded on social media sites as well as shared with friends. It’s very nice to have a secondary camera on a budget phone. The front facing VGA camera can be used for video chatting and self-portraits. It also has a 720p@30fps video support. The camera offers features like smile detection, geo tagging and face detection.
Performance and Operating System:
The good news is that the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 will be loaded with the latest Android operating system, Jelly Beans 4.2.2. The phone will offer faster apps, improved user interface and improved camera features as compared to its predecessor Ace 2. The smart phone is run on Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor with 1 GB RAM. This phone is expected to be a lot more user-friendly.
The Ace 3 is also offering features like Predictive text input also known as Swype. This feature was hugely popular in the Galaxy S series and is a welcome feature in the less expensive Ace series. The sound quality is good and the phone supports MP3 and MP4 file formats. Ace 3 also boasts of sensors like accelerometer, proximity sensor and an inbuilt compass. There is a Stereo FM radio with RDS also available. The phone also has a deal of Samsung apps like S translator, S travel etc. In addition, there are Google features like Maps, Gmail, Talk and you tube. GPS is also available with A-GPS support and GLONASS. With 4 G being supported both GPS and video calls are going be amazing.
The Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 LTE has an 8 GB of internal memory. The non LTE version will have 4 GB of internal memory. The phone has a microSD port and the memory can be expended to 64 GB. The smart phone supports a decent 1800 mAh battery. This will help you get through the day without having to recharge the phone.
The Ace 3 priced around Rs.9,000 which is great for the kind of features it is offering. It will be interesting to see how this entry level budget phone from Samsung pits against similar priced models from Nokia, HTC and Micromax.
