Smartphones are more popular than ever and for most of us they are the device that we use the most, but have you ever thought how smartphones can make a difference in our lives?
Well so did Carphone Warehouse with its latest 'Smarter World' inviative, teaming up with Simon Wheatcroft, a blind ultra-marathon runner who uses the greatest and latest smartphone technology and applications to overcome his Retinitis Pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disease that causes severe vision impairment and often blindness.
Simon has inspired many other blind people and sponsors, but he says that the real thrill and motivation for traning comes from simply being able to complete on a level playing field.
In an interview last year he said:
This gives me a great opportunity to compete with everybody. I can't hide from the fact I'm blind, but at the same time I would rather compete with everybody else and not be put into a special section. Being visually impaired doesn't mean you can't run.
You can watch the video below to learn about Simon's amazing story through Carphone Warehouse's latest Smartphone campaign. Simon shows us how his disability won't stop him from doing what he loves.
Simon's story is a key example of how modern smartphone technology and apps have improved life, it shows us that thanks to smartphones we can do more than ever.
