Vodafone will launch a 4G network in the UK on August 29th, the same day as O2 plans to begin rollout. Vodafone's Red 4G-ready plans will be available from August 12, with 4G networking starting in London on the 29th. After that Birmingham, Bradford, Coventry, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield will get the speeds before the end of 2013. Vodafone says they will bring indoor 4G coverage to 98% of the UK population over the next few years. Vodafone's new plans will come in three options, and you'll get double the data allowance of regular 3G Red plans, plus unlimited calls and texts. Vodafone has also partnered with Sky Sports and Spotify so when you choose a Red 4G plan you'll be able to pick from either a Spotify Premium account or Sky Sports Mobile as part of your plan.
Sign up or upgrade to one of our Red 4G-ready plans and you can choose between either Spotify Premium – which offers unlimited, ad-free music even when you’re offline – or access to all the action from Sky Sports Mobile TV included as part of your plan. Yep, that’s right: your subscription is included for either service for up to two whole years. That means you can find the right music for every moment, or watch the very best in live sport right on your phone.
Guy Laurence, CEO of Vodafone UK said:
With 4G, speed is just the start: it’s what you do with it that really matters. We are taking 4G into a new league by offering sport; and changing the tune with all the music you could want. 4G is coming of age, and there’s plenty to look forward to...
When you take up a 4G plan you'll also be able to take a Data Test Drive so you'll know how much you need. For more info, visit vodafone.co.uk/4G.
