Samsung has officially revealed its new Galaxy Gear smartwatch today at IFA and it doesn't look much like the leaked prototype spotted by VentureBeat. It sports a 1.63-inch 320 x 320 AMOLED display which is framed in metal. The strap looks to be made of rubber and has a camera built into it.
Samsung is making it clear that this is a companion to your smartphone, not a replacement. It will use Bluetooth to connect to Samsung Galaxy devices, but we aren't sure if it will work with other non Samsung devices yet. Once you are connected to a device you'll be able to answer and place phone calls, get notifications, take memos, and more. Samsung is also working on an app store for the watch, with 70 apps available to play with at launch.
