Google's Nexus 5 was officially announced yesterday and it sports A 5-inch Full HD IPS display, Android 4.4 KitKat, a Snapdragon 800 processor with a 2.26GHz Quad-Core Krait CPU, and much more. Nexus devices are known to be great for the price, well if you get them from Google Play that is.

PAY AS YOU GO DEVICE 16GB 32GB SIM Price
O2 Don't stock £549.99 Free
Three £399.99 Don't stock Free
Google Play Store £299.99 £339.99 Free
Difference £100 £210 N/A

That's right, if you buy a 32GB model from O2 it will cost you  £549.99, that's a whopping £210 more than Google Play, and even with Three stocking the 16GB model, you'll still be paying £100 more than the Google Play store.

So yes it's clearly best to avoid going to the carriers if you're looking for the Nexus 5 on pay as you go. You can read more about the device here.

UPDATE: It appears Carphone Warehouse is selling the 16GB model for £295, even cheaper than the Play Store.
