As a kid I loved playing with my many number of remote controlled cars on my Scalextric tracks I always got for Christmas. Now Renault has bought this to full scale cars, it's ZOE electric cars to be exact. In the video below Renault puts two ZOE models around London on a custom-built giant Scalextric track and controlled by remote controllers above the city in helicopters. The track starts at the iconic London Eye, zooms across the Westminster Bridge, goes around the IMAX at Waterloo before crossing the finish line back at London Eye.

The challenge was set up to showcase the capabilities and power of electric cars as well as to show the environmental positives of them while not taking anything away from the driving experience.

Renault ZOE is classed as a five-door supermini, it's 100% electric with 0% noise and it has the most advanced electric tech currently available. It runs  on a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, driving a 87 bhp synchronous electric motor that delivers a range of 130 miles under the NEDC cycle. Maximum torque is 220 N·m with a top speed of 84 mph. It terms of safety it has a five star Euro NCAP rating and was one of the top three finalists for the 2013 World Green Car of the Year

With the Renault ZOE you can also download an app for your smartphone which keeps you updated on its remaining range and energy usage, a massive advantage when you're out and about.

You can find out more about the Renault ZOE over on the Renault's website and keep up to date with the latest news on Facebook. For more videos like this visit the Renault YouTube channel.
