BT testing 1.4 terabits per second internet

Fiber-optic internet may not be available to everyone in Britain just yet, but BT is already working on something that will make it incredibly faster. With help from Alcatel-Lucent, BT say that have created what they believe to be the fatest-ever "real-world" internet connection, hitting speeds of 1.4 terabits per second using hardware already available. How fast is that? Well BT says the network can transmit 44 uncompressed HD movies in just one second. The project right now is just a speed test so we may not see anything like this soon, but it's great to see something that this could be possible in the near future without having to dig up roads.
