Japanese newspaper Nikkei claimed that Nintendo was planning to offer mini-games on smartphones, however today Nintendo has stepped in and denied such plans. Speaking to Engadget, the comapany said it has no plans to offer mini-games on smartphones, saying that it's CEO in previous financial reports actually meant using smart devices to better promote its hardware and games.
Nikkei's article contains information previously stated by Mr Iwata during past press conferences, including statements which relate to Nintendo's willingness to make use of smart devices to promote our products.
However during such past announcements Mr Iwata has also stated that Nintendo's intention is not to make Nintendo software available on smart devices and as such, we can confirm that there are no plans to offer minigames on smartphone devices. "
So yes you'll still have to buy a Nintendo console to get your Mario fix, but for just how long?
