Microsoft is set to reveal the next version of its Windows graphics API, DirectX 12, and is inviting developers to join them at GDC in San Francisco for the announcement. t will be the first update to DirectX since way back in 2008. The image posted by the company reveals the announcement time and partners, Intel, Qualcomm, Nvidia, and AMD. The official event description reads,
You asked us to bring you even closer to the metal and to do so on an unparalleled assortment of hardware. You also asked us for better tools so that you can squeeze every last drop of performance out of your PC, tablet, phone, and console.
What exactly will be new is still unknown but the above descriptions clearly hints that support for tablets and smartphones will be coming. What else? We're going to have to wait until March 20th at 10am to find out.
