BMW i is a sub-brand of BMW and was founded back in 2011. It's aim is create sustainable luxury electric vehicles that are both innovative and offer amazing designs. So far their has been two releases in the BMWi range, the i3 all electric car and the i8 plug-in hybrid. BMW i3 All Electric Car
The BMW i3 is a sharply designed four door urban electric car. It's BMW's very first zero emissions car, this is achieved with its electric powertrain. This also makes BMW the first company to launch a mass production vehicle that features plastic that’s carbon-fiber reinforced, why? It lowers the vehicle's energy consumption.
Officially the i3 has a range of 80 to 100 miles and up to 120 miles in it's most efficient driving mode making it a great all around car for trips out. The vehicle is the most fuel efficient EPA-certified vehicle regardless of fuel type, and has won the World Car of the Year twice, World Green Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year.

BMW i8 Plug-In Hybrid
The BMW i8 is a luxurious plug-in hybrid sports car. It features a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that delivers an range of 23 miles on just electricity. The vehicle has an impressive 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 160mph.
The concept of what would become the BMW i8 was first unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, while the production version was unveiled at the 2013 show. It's priced at £86,800 in the UK and $135,925 in the US.
The i8 has won various awards including AutoGuide's 2015 Reader’s Choice Green Car of the Year, Autoblog's 2014 Technology of the Year, and Top Gear Magazine's Car of the Year award.
