Starting today Twitter has decided to spread the love by replacing it's star icon which represents favourites to a heart which they'll be calling likes. Twitter says they're doing this as they want the service to be easier and more rewarding to use, and they know that a star could be confusing to newcomers.

In a blog post the company said, "The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it."

From today you’ll see hearts on Twitter web and TweetDeck as well as Twitter apps for iOS, Android, and Windows 10. You'll also see them soon on Twitter for Mac.
