Why you should buy an OLED TV instead of an LCD

Right now 4K content is limited, but it's only a matter of time before everyone is doing it. 4K televisions have dropped significantly in the last year so it may be a good time to invest. If you're not aware already, these ultra high resolution televisions offer four times as much detail as 1080p Full HD, that's eight million pixels compared to two million pixels. This means that images look sharper, have greater texture and look even more realistic. But some 4K sets are better than others, and here's why you should be looking at an OLED from LG.

Most televisions don't give you great blacks, so dark movies often don't look the best they can.  Experts judge a sets ability to portray black as one of the major elements in a television rating. LG have produced a technology that doesn’t just render black well, it does perfectly.

The difference in image quality between LCD and OLED is clear in the image above. The LCD on the left bleeds the image, thus pushing light to pixels where there shouldn't any. This is why you never get pure blacks. But with OLED each pixel renders individually as bright or as dark as it should be, creating a smooth, crisp and clean picture that is a pleasure to look at. Black level not only delivers better blacks, but improves colour vibrancy.

LG have released a short video titled 'Colorful Sensation in Black' which you can take a look below to try and get a feeling of what OLED can offer.
