The legendary Cirque du Soleil is currently celebrating it's 20th anniversary at London's Royal Albert Hall with a amazing new show called Amaluna, which has opened to critical acclaim this month with The Times calling it 'A Thrillingly Executed Evening of Entertainment' and the Toronto Star's Richard Ouzounian saying the show will 'send your spirit soaring and bring your heart to places it’s never been before.'
Written and directed by Tony Award-winning director Diane Paulus (Pippin, Hair), Amaluna is what Cirque du Soleil is calling a celebration of love and a tribute to the work and voice of women. The story takes place on an island governed by goddesses. During a storm, a group of men are washed on to shore. The queen's daughter falls for one of them, and the trials of their love create a storm and form the narrative through the show.
The show features beautiful and breath taking scenes with props including aerial straps, a teeterboards, bars, and a waterbowl, as well as and 14 songs using guitars, bass, drums, cello, and more.
