Today at Facebook’s F8 conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Facebook users will soon have the option to sign into third-partry applications anonymously. What does that mean exactly? Well no personal details will be shared with the third-party app, so if you don’t know if it can be trusted you can sign in without them getting any information. On the annoucement Zuckerberg said,

Some people are scared of pressing this blue button. If you’re using an app that you don’t completely trust or you’re worried might spam your friends, you’re not going to give it a lot of permissions.

Anonymous login is currently in testing with developers and will be opened to more in the coming months.Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 22.40.37

“You can always sign in with your own identity once you’re more comfortable with the app. For example, if someone wants to share their email address with an app, but not their birthday, they can make that choice with a couple taps,” Facebook says.

Facebook also says that they’ll start reviewing new apps that allow Facebook login to make sure devs aren’t doing things without your mission such as posting to your wall.
