Google has today announced the Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone, the biggest one with a 6-inch display — that’s bigger than both the Galaxy Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
The Nexus 6’s display is Quad HD so everything should be sharp despite its huge fingerprint. In terms of specs the device has a Snapdragon 805 processor, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, a 2-megapixel camera on the front, two front speakers and a 3220mAh battery. It’ll be available in 32 or 64GB story we options, and will come in blue or white according to images. The Nexus 6 is clearly taking cues from Motorola’s Moto X with a metal trim, a circular flash, and the Motorola logo on the back.
The Nexus 6 comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop which has also been announced today. Since June it has been known simply as ‘Android L’ when Google showcased the OS’ new design. Lollipop also includes a battery saving feature than can apparently extend a devices life by up to 90 minutes. The most impressive thing about the Nexus 6 though is Motorola’s Turbo Charger which can charge the phone back up to six hours worth of battery in just 15 minutes, that really is amazing and should kill many worries about running out of juice.
The Nexus 6 will be available to pre-order on October 29th on Google Play and in stores in November. In the US you’ll be able to buy it unlocked for $649 and that version will work on all four of the major US carriers. Google also says that it will be offered through contract at AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, and Sprint.
